how the world connected

How is it the world is connected to our daily life? How to have a healthy and positive mindset? We all read or known about thinking positive consistently will bring good to one person.

Positive thinking / words + frequency = good stuff (law of attraction)

The Secret simply is asking one to have positive thinking and not only to him or herself but to all living things around him. This was backup with a study by ancient Hawaiian practice Ho'oponopono (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho%CA%BBoponopono) which can be summarize by repeat these 4 sentences daily and what it signify

  • I am sorry - repentance
  • Please forgive me - forgiveness
  • Thank you - gratitude
  • I love you  - compassion
Studies have been conducted on positive words by Dr. Masaru Emoto. It works on water and plant what's more a human being.

Makan Makan In Qatar - Sweet World

Bump into a newly open Arabic dessert shop at Al Sadd Doha. Well I did wanted to find dessert to bring back home for my cousin who asked for it last month or so. The shop look very clean and nicely design. Girly or cute I would say.

The shop have a lot of variety of dessert from such as typical Arabic dessert, baklava, Kunafah and to chocolate, cakes and ice cream. The person in charge or manager is very well manner and friendly in such he offered me 2 free sample of Kunafah. I didn't try their baklava which I wanted to buy but from the taste of Kunafah I had, I am betting their baklava will be good as well. Overall I do recommend people to try Sweet World at Al Sadd Doha. It is located just next to Al Sadd Mall.

Hamad International Airport

Visited HIA not too long ago... soon after their soft launch. I went there to see how thing operate so that I won't get lost or confuse when I am flying out next week. As I was only visiting there I can only visit departure and arrival lobby. Overall it is a tremendous change compare DIA. It really look like any other airport. The design is beautiful and I like the landscaping surrounding the airport.

Looking forward to see more design and art gallery in the airport as well as the smooth operation of getting check in, passport control and security check.

CHANGE of QATARI Labor Law

The most anticipated new for Qatar residents was announced yesterday. The change of the Kafala system. Here are some of the changes I read on the net and some question I have...

Currently so called Kafala sponsorship has been abolished and employer and employee will be protected through using contract. One can now change job after completing his / hers contract but one can't do that in the middle of the contract. Therefore the seeking NOC is still there just now it has a duration. As for one current or will be on a permanent / non contract job same thing apply and far worst they need to wait for 5 years after they complete their service to change job. So basically I really don't see a HUGE different or any differences because back in other emerging country one can change job whether they are on contract or not by just quitting their current job and they would only need to pay their employer if they did not serve the notice period.

The 2 years ban after your left Qatar will be abolish but that statement is just too general. What if someone quit his job and leave the country and come back for a new job the very following month? so how does the completing 5 years / contract duration rules come into the picture?

Exit Permit. Well this is only thing that I am concerned about. Sad to say the exit permit still there likewise for the NOC thingy I wrote earlier. One now need to apply themselves for EP through the government mobile apps Metrash2 or maybe Hukoomi and employers have 72 hours to dispute with a valid reason. I see potential issue with this process as the following;

1) What about the employee who current being told that they can only go for vacation after 2 years of service?

2) What is the lead time you need to apply for EP before your departure date? I am expecting 5 days to be safe. The process now would probably go like this.

Employee > Metrash 2 > (how employer know you applied.?) > employer acknowledge > MOI > employer (if there is dispute) and the cycle continues.

3) Are they expecting people with lower income such as laborers have access to Internet / smartphone ?

These are some of my curiosity of the changes to take place and hope they will provide more clearer process about it and yeah they have not announce when the change will be implemented. In the end, there is nothing much to complain about as these issue has been ongoing for many years and it is a known thing and like what most people says if you can't take it then look for another alternative.  Is just like when a man or women sign up to become a soldier and knowing that the job would get them killed.

Arts of giving

I know this post is contradict my with previous post "sakai". I was furious at that time when I post that and I know it is wrong.

Why I post this now, well It has been a while I have not listen to the teaching of Ajahn Brahm. His recent talks on "how to keep giving without reward"  and so how? What is the answer?

To keep it short, is simple.. KINDNESS.

So I forgive him and forgive myself for being upset and only to continue what I doing as a favor and kindness to all.

Mother’s Day Joke

Back in London, there are 4 mothers having an afternoon coffee at a coffee shop. The first mother went by saying

1st mother: Today I am buying, I am celebrating. My son has become a priest. I am so proud of him. Now everybody in his church will bow and call him Father

2ns mother :  Ahhh that’s nothing. My son became a priest 10 years ago. Now he is a bishop. Now everyone in the church will kneel on knee and kiss on his ring and call him ‘Your Grace’ I so proud of him

3rd mother: Only a bishop? My son was a bishop 5 years ago and he is now a cardinal. Now when he go into the church, everyone will kneel on both knee and call him ‘Your Eminence ‘

Then all 3 mothers look at the 4th mothers. She finishes her tea and say

4th mother: Ahh, this is nothing. My son never joins any church. He joins the national football team. He is 6ft 4 inches tall and obviously good looking. Every time when he goes into a room, all girls will go down on the floor and go Oh my God, Oh my God! I am so proud of him…

Happy Mothers Day

Qatar and the Kafala system

Since I arrived at Qatar, there has been rumors that there will be change of the sponsorship system. On and off people will talk about it on local forum and it always end up being rumors as nothing has changed.

Pass 1 year, Qatar has been under the spotlight on their treatment of laborers and many international human rights group has been pressuring the government to change the Kafala system.

Recent local newspaper headline has been indicating that the Qatari government are taking measure to change to Kafala system in order to meet the international labor law. This time it isn't a rumor anymore as there are many indication that this will happen but still the residents have no details about what are the changes.

Some indication or suspecting changes of law are there no longer will be exit permit and NOC where residents (non-Qatari) are allow to leave the country or change job as they please. But I am sure there will be some new law will be introduce to protect the employers.

All this is a good sign, and I only hope the resident do not abuse the new system and with this new system they will be much happier and committed to help Qatar to achieve their goal.

That's all for now. 'yallah...
