how the world connected

How is it the world is connected to our daily life? How to have a healthy and positive mindset? We all read or known about thinking positive consistently will bring good to one person.

Positive thinking / words + frequency = good stuff (law of attraction)

The Secret simply is asking one to have positive thinking and not only to him or herself but to all living things around him. This was backup with a study by ancient Hawaiian practice Ho'oponopono (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho%CA%BBoponopono) which can be summarize by repeat these 4 sentences daily and what it signify

  • I am sorry - repentance
  • Please forgive me - forgiveness
  • Thank you - gratitude
  • I love you  - compassion
Studies have been conducted on positive words by Dr. Masaru Emoto. It works on water and plant what's more a human being.

Stay Positive, Be Positive, Talk Positive, Think Positive

Arts of giving

I know this post is contradict my with previous post "sakai". I was furious at that time when I post that and I know it is wrong.

Why I post this now, well It has been a while I have not listen to the teaching of Ajahn Brahm. His recent talks on "how to keep giving without reward"  and so how? What is the answer?

To keep it short, is simple.. KINDNESS.

So I forgive him and forgive myself for being upset and only to continue what I doing as a favor and kindness to all.

Attachment....

I started writing in before I put up a title as I don't know what is the best title for this post. This week is a wonderful week as SL have official complete a year at Qatar, although is nothing to shout about and another friend is leaving Qatar and we are doing a farewell for him. It is also the day I should remember my MOM for giving me a life. At time I felt I am neglecting my parents by coming to Qatar and not accompany them. I had done wrong to them and many mistake. Well what done is done and I can only looking forward to correct myself to be a better person.... I will keep remind myself to keep the 5 precepts.

Well I suppose to be happy with all the above but I wasn't as 2 days ago I was told by a friend that one of my buddy had cancer and is currently on stage 3. When I heard it, I almost broke apart and in denial as he is one talented good man. Everyone is so surprise so as him as it was too sudden and few weeks back he was all fine as my friend had met him.

As a Buddhist practitioner I should have not feel sorrow (attachment) and embrace the challenge with him and should focus on make him strong and cheerful. I guess it is hard when we are emotionally attach and do not understand death and rebirth deep enough and death is always a taboo to talk about.Friends and family around him shouldn't add mental suffering on top of his physical suffering. I can't do much for him while I am here but I can only pray for his healing and may Lord Buddha have mercy on him. As I do admit I am far from being enlightened and still have attachment but I will try to do my best.

For a third time, I go to the Buddha for refuge.

Extension of compassion and kindness

Compassion and kindness should be extended to everyone and not just the whom we love, not just the one who are less fortunate but also all sort of level of society in this work for example prisoner or the person who have hurt you. In every human being there is a good and kindness in them but most of them time we do not see it as we were blind by hatred and anger.

I came across a Buddhist talk and a poem once written by the world most villain person and his poem goes like this......

The Mother

“When your mother has grown older,
When her dear, faithful eyes
no longer see life as they once did,
When her feet, grown tired,
No longer want to carry her as she walks -
Then lend her your arm in support,
Escort her with happy pleasure.
The hour will come when, weeping, you
Must accompany her on her final walk.
And if she asks you something,
Then give her an answer.
And if she asks again, then speak!
And if she asks yet again, respond to her,
Not impatiently, but with gentle calm.
And if she cannot understand you properly
Explain all to her happily.
The hour will come, the bitter hour,
When her mouth asks for nothing more.”

Adolf Hitler, 1923.

When Buddha and Jesus Meet

This is one of the talk by my favorite monk Ajahn Brahm, a British monk who studied Buddhism in Thai and currently he is the Abbot for a Buddhist Monastery in Perth, Australia.  He is so funny and very good when explaining Buddhism as he made it easy to understand.  This is just one part of his talk and there are plenty more and pretty much he always add humors into his talk.

I also have been listening to other Buddhist talk other than Ajahn Brahm and each talk help me to understand not only Buddhism is all about but what life is actually all about. Buddhism is a far beyond than how we label it as religion.

I know at the very first time you see this topic, it is sound very controversial and sensitive to some but this talk and this post is not to criticize any religion but for you to open up your heart and mind to listen to the talk.

Just be good and more

Several years back several of my aunt and uncle and my grandma have practice Buddhism in depth. Whenever they have the time they will share the learning to me and I always try to absorb what they say and also from the article that I read. I can surely say is not easy especially in this modern world when people crave for thing and luxury and the temptation is always there. It is always hard to balance the life and live in moderation.

Loosing someone and almost loosing someone is not an easy feeling to cope. Fear, sadness and the unknown always freak us out. In Buddhism and many other religion it taught us to be good but it is more than that in our life. It also about feeling contentment and letting go which something I really need to practice in this modern world. Recently I listen to a Buddhism talk and the monk explain it very well which I would like to share it here. I am not going to elaborate his literature as it is best you listen to it yourself..  Buddhism In Modern Time.

Being at Qatar almost 2 years, I always trying to figure out what is my purpose here... earning more money? travel? Maybe but I don't feel that 2 reason is enough for me. Couple of days ago, everything seems just click and coming together. I think and feel I know why I am here know even I am not telling it here now as it is work in progress and if it does work as out as plan it doesn't required to be said out loud as well. Only time will tell.

2013 is here so as CNY...... like previous year I only want to wish everyone best of health, live in peace and always receive God blessing.
