Buying a house at HK

Be aware that buying a house at HK is so much different from buying a house in Malaysia.

In Malaysia if you fail to obtain a loan for the house you bought within the stated time frame you can get back your deposit.  This rules doesn't exist in HK and the agent and developers will not tell you this and they will suck up those deposit just like that and instantly get rich.

Daylight robbery.

Update

Found out in HK when you buy house you first sign a temporary agreement and pay your deposit and 5 days later the developer will ask you to sign the final agreement which you won't get back your deposit based on the law in HK.  As for temporary agreement, the law didn't say you can't get back your deposit and getting back your deposit is a hassle you have to argue with your developer which most of the time they will not refund.

But in HK there is a government unit setup 3 years ago for first time house buyer to file a complaint to the developer for any dispute they may have or if the buyer found any discrepancy in the agreement.

The rule of thumb is.  If the bank loan can't cover the purchase amount leave it.  Don't rely on or even think about getting a loan from developer as it is trap

Xiaomi Xiaofang ismartalarm spot camera

Xiaomi recently release a new camera call xiaofang aka little square which you may notice when you try to add a new camera at mi home apps you will see an entry there. 2 actually.  Why? I explain later as the entry are in Chinese.

While doing my research I found out that ismartalarm also have the identical camera call spot and this increase my curiosity who actually designed this camera and who copy who?

Some said xiaomi copy ismartalarm and made it better with 1080 definition . There are also someone said ismartalarm bought the right to sell from xiaomi.  Either way it doesn't really matters to me as long it can be use outside China.

One interesting fact I found that some claim that xiaomi Xiaofang can use with ismartalarm android app.  But recent update of mi home app I notice that mi home also support ismartalarm camera this only proofs both cameras are the same.

So happy testing

Xiaomi XiaoYi Home Smart Camera PC Software

Xiaoyi recently launch a PC software for user to view their Xiaoyi home smart camera feeds on their desktop or notebook for a larger view.  This is useful as you can hook up your PC to a large tv for larger viewing.

DIY magnetic Mosquito net

Finally figure out how to close the kitchen wall to prevent bugs from coming in. At the first wanted to hack of the bricks and put up aluminum windows but gonna cost about 2000.

Time spent on Google let me found this DIY Mosquito net which cost less than a hundred for the size I wanted. 5ft x 5ft. There are people who can install for you as well but I was quoted 350 for it. That's about 270 more if I do it myself

Anyway is pretty easy to do it. I did few mistake by hammering down the magnet which is a no no. Just push the magnet into the pvc pipe will do.

XiaoYi Home Smart Camera

There are plenty of website guiding you all on how to setup XiaoYi Home Smart Camera or even how to troubleshoot it if the camera you bough were manufacture after November 2015. As for camera manufactured after November 2015, there is some kind of chip embedded in it and if you would have update the firmware on a camera made for China, you will then unable to use it as the camera will give you a message 'This camera cannot be used outside China" and it will shut down by itself and the only way to fix this is to flash back to old firmware.

I bought a camera online, China version and it was working perfectly and was in English version as well as having the latest online firmware. And then I got another few camera and try to setup it all over again with a new MI account so I reset all the camera and BANG I am having problem connecting the camera to my WIFI, I thought it could be my MI account issues or firmware issues which I doubt it very much because all the camera are not having the error message.

So I thought to just flash one of the camera firmware and BANG.... it really failed to work. So I keep thinking what is the problem then I end up found the reason behind it. The very first time I can't connect to the WiFi is because I have all the camera all power up which is a big mistake.

Then I end up reset all my camera and power off and reboot my router and setup one camera at a time and it works but I screw up one good camera which I am trying to fix it now.

CONCLUSION

- Camera bought before the November 2015 can be updated to latest firmware
- Latest camera manufactured date can't update to latest firmware else you will kill it.
- Power up the camera one by one to set it up

Use only China version apps on your phone.
