Thing to consider

I won't recommend people that I know to work at Qatar if they are not prepare to face the differences of culture and rules unless they are desperate for money. Those I do not know you may take this as reference and do as you wish. :)

Working at Qatar or should I say coming to Qatar is not as easy as most people think. You have to get all sort of crazy thing ready before you are granted the permission to enter and what worst than this is getting out from this country is equal the effort.

On normal occasion, if you want to take leave during work and travel out from the country you have to get exit permit also known as Kafala system. Although until now I didn't have much trouble with it but the problem come when you plan to leave for good. It is not as easy as hand in your resignation letter and leave the country. There are all sort of task you need to complete before they allow you to step out from this country. I think I have mentioned those task in my previous post.. I can't recall which one now..... This is just my point of view.... Don't follow exactly what I say and there is Internet and there is Google so do more research on it.

If you want to be here, I would recommend come as bachelor and don't commit anything. Although car is cheap but get the cheapest car even people laugh at you but don't give a fuck to those laughed at you as in the end you pray to God you did the right thing.

Of course, like anything in this world there are pro and cons or else people wont travel to oversea to work if their home country is the best. I not claiming everything is bad in Qatar but I am just saying if you plan to leaving your home and family for a little bit more of money then think about it wisely. You have to weight the money you getting vs the time you lost with your family and friends. You do the math.

If you plan to be here, set a goal, a target or time frame you plan to be here and what to do with the money you earn. Keep the cost low but still maintain a healthy lifestyle, don't just eat bread 24x7 and once you hit your goal, plan to retire if your age permit else move to another country to gain new experience.

Life is good. Live it.

2013 Honda Accord

The 2013 Honda Accord has launched in Qatar. At first I had assume that the car would be pretty boring and ugly like the previous one and before the car launch I saw some leak photo of it and it looks like the new Toyota Camry.

And so as my first impression of the car, I was pretty amaze as it look great and sporty. The front of the car was sharp and the rear wasn't bad at all with large boot space.

What fascinate me was the interior of the car. It has great improvement over the previous model. No more crazy thousand of button at the center console. Now it has a clean look and more stylish design. Is hard for me to describe but you can check out the pic here..

E! Reality Show

I always into the reality show shown in E! entertainment channel such as Keeping with the Kardashians, Married to Jonas or even Ice and Coco. It is nice to see their off screen life and how they actually live day by day. Among all the reality show I think the most reality show I love the most is Giuliana and Rancic. I believe the show really show how couple should live, their ups and downs and their frustrations.

There is an episode where in the attempt Giuliana trying to get pregnant through IVF she found out she had breast cancer and through the reality show I can see how their relationship are so strong and fighting to overcome the misfortune.. I have not seen the finishing episode but looking forward to it.

When Buddha and Jesus Meet

This is one of the talk by my favorite monk Ajahn Brahm, a British monk who studied Buddhism in Thai and currently he is the Abbot for a Buddhist Monastery in Perth, Australia.  He is so funny and very good when explaining Buddhism as he made it easy to understand.  This is just one part of his talk and there are plenty more and pretty much he always add humors into his talk.

I also have been listening to other Buddhist talk other than Ajahn Brahm and each talk help me to understand not only Buddhism is all about but what life is actually all about. Buddhism is a far beyond than how we label it as religion.

I know at the very first time you see this topic, it is sound very controversial and sensitive to some but this talk and this post is not to criticize any religion but for you to open up your heart and mind to listen to the talk.

Forex

oh my. what happen to USD currency... it is now 1USD to RM2.9880 this is even lower than AUD. Man this is bad for Malaysian working at Qatar... it is about 22% lost each time to transfer our salary back home.......

Those thinking of coming to work at Qatar please take this as consideration as well. Every cent in the exchange rate make a lot of different.

The lovely Paw Paw

I do always fancy to have a dog as a pet but I know I am unable to take care of them that is why I didn't have one till this very day... But whenever I have a chance to play with a dog I will try to mess their head...Last time I used to play with Girl Girl.. I shitzu that belong to Barry. I watch her grow up since a puppy and she always remember me even I have not visit her for years but recently she runaway and nowhere to be found....

Several years back, Eunice got a chow chow and her name is Paw Paw, named after her fluffiness.... She is super adorable but can be stuck up sometime as she don't really bother about you even you call her 100 times unless it is time for a walk. She will bark each time she see me but after a couple of minute she turn super friendly.. :)... I can't wait to see her soon....

Just be good and more

Several years back several of my aunt and uncle and my grandma have practice Buddhism in depth. Whenever they have the time they will share the learning to me and I always try to absorb what they say and also from the article that I read. I can surely say is not easy especially in this modern world when people crave for thing and luxury and the temptation is always there. It is always hard to balance the life and live in moderation.

Loosing someone and almost loosing someone is not an easy feeling to cope. Fear, sadness and the unknown always freak us out. In Buddhism and many other religion it taught us to be good but it is more than that in our life. It also about feeling contentment and letting go which something I really need to practice in this modern world. Recently I listen to a Buddhism talk and the monk explain it very well which I would like to share it here. I am not going to elaborate his literature as it is best you listen to it yourself..  Buddhism In Modern Time.

Being at Qatar almost 2 years, I always trying to figure out what is my purpose here... earning more money? travel? Maybe but I don't feel that 2 reason is enough for me. Couple of days ago, everything seems just click and coming together. I think and feel I know why I am here know even I am not telling it here now as it is work in progress and if it does work as out as plan it doesn't required to be said out loud as well. Only time will tell.

2013 is here so as CNY...... like previous year I only want to wish everyone best of health, live in peace and always receive God blessing.

2013 - The first post

This is my first post for 2013 and I want to wish you guys Happy New Year.  Although a day have almost pass but it is still hard for me to think that I am in 2013. As usual most of us will take the time to reflect what we have done over the past year and I believe as human we enjoy the ups and downs.

I always try not to look back into the past and always focus on the present but it is very difficult due to some incident happen in my family and it is even difficult while I am here.  At time I get disoriented despite I look fine in front of my friends and sometime I feel depress as well but I try to no think about it and focus on the love I have back home. I am lucky enough I have few friends who message me from time to time via FB or MSN even it is not the real deal but it does help to to switch the focus and gain back some sanity. I have to thanks Eunice for her support and care and she helps to keep my focus on right track.

Is 3 more months that I am here 2 years and additional 1 year for me to complete 3 years to get my end of service benefit which pretty much every QP staff is looking for. Till this very moment I can't believe that I am here this long, I remember I wanted to quit on the very first month I am at Qatar. I am seriously fortunate I have friends with me else is really not easy to be here alone. You get mentally attacked from work and life. You may found other blogs saying their life is OK and good but we have to see they are probably in different scenario. They probably brought their entire family to Qatar or they from other Gulf country that are currently in war.. ? You do the maths....

This year new year resolution? I just want to able to work and meet my goal and wish to be blessed with good health for myself and family and friends. All this while I am only focus on earning money but I totally forget about life.... I need to learn to love life! this is why I have plan to do sky diving at Dubai!
