Makan Makan In Qatar - Applebees
Went to Applebees 2 days and try out their latest dish which is lamb shank.
Is just a myself and two other friends who stuck here during Xmas weekend. From the brochure and advertisement the picture of the lamb shank looks fantastic and so as the real thing.
They serve the lamb shank with 2 way of cooking which is sizzling or Mediterranean. The sizzling one is served in a hot plate with potatoes while the Mediterranean is served on a plate with rice. We all ordered the sizzling lamb shank and replace the potatoes with vegetables as we are on a low card diet.
The meat was cook nicely. It is easily removing the meat from the bone and the taste is good. On top of that we also ordered calamari which is good as well. Overall Applebees serve tasty food and I wondering why my housemate don't like it.
The lamb shank cost QR 99. Is good for one person or shared with two if you have small appetite. QP staff have 10% discount of total bill.
The experience that night was great until we were being harassed by a group of customers... not to explain here but let bygones be bygones.
2015 Toyota Yaris hatchback
Saw this model at the showroom. From far it looks good but a bit disappointed when I have a closer look as the showroom only display the lowest spec. But I believe the full spec version with TRD kit will be a rival for Honda Jazz. Check it out.
This spec is priced at QR 53 K. 1.3 liter. Steel rims.
Makan Makan In Qatar - MRA Restaurant and Bakery
Had a vegetarian buffet lunch today at MRA. Their buffet have quite a number of dishes but due to today I'm on vegetarian diet so I have limited choice. But then their selection are not too bad. The taste of the food was splendid.
This is my first time I have such a kind of buffet and I think it I won't try it again not because of the food quality is just that I prefer ala carte menu as I can have less portion of food and take the food that I prefer.
For those who enjoy Indian buffet lunch this is a good place to go.
Is available everyday. QR 25 for weekday and QR 30 for weekend.
Makan Makan In Qatar - MRA Restaurant and Bakery
Just a quick post of MRA BBQ chicken is also known as Al Faham as per their menu.
The taste is good and texture is good but then I still will go for their tandoori chicken as it is the best
Makan Makan In Qatar - MRA Restaurant and Bakery
Found a new Indian restaurant last week. This restaurant like any other Indian restaurant serve variety of food mainly from Northern and southern Indian as well as various Chinese food.
The food are remarkably good. What I like most of about this place and particularly this branch at Markiya is that it is comfortable and clean. I don't have many pictures of the food but here is pic of fish briyani I had moment ago.
Woqod Al Hilal Expansion
Went to woqod for car wash this morning and I notice they have expanded at the area behind the car wash. The expansion consists more car wash bay and cleaning bay and also a row of shop with some eateries such as subway
Makan Makan In Qatar - Restaurant Puti Bungsu Doha
I had their breakfast on that day which is mee goreng, telur sambal and kari kambing and a cup of teh tarik. I would say the taste was pretty good. I would recommend it as an alternative to Holiday Villa Malaysian breakfast which only available on weekend but here is everyday.
Makan Makan In Qatar - The Garden Village
Well this is not a new restaurant in Qatar as many who being at Qatar long enough would have know this. I been here couple of years ago but totally forgot about it.
This restaurant serve remarkable Indian food. They have plenty of varieties but I didn't try all as if you do then be prepare to gain some weight.
What I had that day was a clear soup and their tandoori chicken. The clear soup was really clear and is like almost drinking plain water. There is some taste which I don't know what but I expected they would have put more chicken in it.
Anyway back to the tandoori chicken, it is really good and way much better than any tandoori I had back in Malaysia. Although the price here is slightly higher than other smaller Indian restaurant in Doha but I think is stil reasonable due the cleanness and service. I would try their banana leaf rice which happen every Friday lunch someday when I feel to gain some fats.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos
Recently Samsung have release a dual sim S5 only at China only. Reason is I can think of maybe it is manufactured there and would probably cost less to have China as test market afterall they have a large group of consumers. Or maybe I'm wrong at Xiaomi is currently the most wanted phone at China due to it's power pack specification and low price compare to Samsung or Apple.
Anyway Samsung decided to have an international release of S5 Duos and Middle East region is chosen to be first. The specifications for the Duos and normal S5 are exactly the same except for additional slot of sim card. Both phones are LTE capable.
Price at Qatar for both are about QR100 difference. For the standard S5 is currently price at QR2375 and the Duos are now priced at QR2499 with free Samsung original S5 flip wallet. That itself cost QR199.
So I went to check it out and here is the picture I got.
By the way the local authorized distributor also sell older model S3. I did askes the price for comparison or for your reference, it is QR100.
Makan Makan In Qatar - Tim Tam Chocolate
I'm not a chocolate fan or fan of chocolate as I dont really like food that are too sweet and especially this chocolate biscuit I'm talking about now. TIM TAM. For a start it doesn't sound like some expensive chocolate like Ferrero and yet as I get to know from friends that tim tam is not cheap.
My housemate bought one home and I get to try it and surprisingly it is nice. Not overly sweet and is crunchy and I like the filling in middle as it tasted like ice cream.
It is somehow cheaper in Qatar compare Malaysia and yet Qatar have more flavor such as original, caramel, dark chocolate and doublr coat. So far I tried double coat and dark chocolate and both are good.
You can get Tim Tam at Qatar at the Family Food Center and Lulu. It is better to buy at Lulu as it is a fraction cheaper and they carry all the flavor I just mentioned as FFC don't have much stock.
Key Cutting Key Duplication
I guess many like me an expat at time s we need to look for a place to duplicate keys for our new apartment or villas.
Well it is not hard to find a place to duplicate your key but is hard to find a place that can do it once without you need to return back to them to do it right again. There is one stall at the basement of city center but so far two of my friends have problems with the key they duplicate there.
Anyway today I need to duplicate one key for my housemate as we change the master door key as this morning the lock jammed and I couldn't get out and that's another story.
So the place I'm referring to is behind Gulf Cinema, Najma. Turn into Gulf Cinema and you reach a small round about. Right then you can start look for parking as the shop is like few meters away. Below is the pic for your reference.
Makan Makan In Qatar - Java U
I like the deco in the shop and as well as their coffee and dessert. It is a good place to hang out and meet up friends. They have quite a big range of coffee and juices and some of it have weird name and so I do not what it is actually..
So far I had their salad, cakes and coffee and it is good except for the red velvet cake that I had which is a bit too sweet.
Give it a try!
Makan Makan In Qatar - Yee Hwa Restaurant Japanese Buffet
It is a bit hard for me to get used to it as unlike Japanese buffet in Malaysia, the goodies are presented nicely on the island table and we can take as much as we like (make sure finish) and only to special dishes are required to order such as baked scallop.
At Yew Hwa they do not have many selection on their buffet menu, mostly and sushi rolls and few options on sashimi. At first I thought this might be worth it but then it just so so and probably I wont go there for another buffet. Anyhow here are the pics of "most" of the food we order.
The only thing I like is all their rolls have a very thin layer of rice and a lot of stuffing like tuna fish and etc.
see the thin layer of rice and a thick slice of tuna fish |
Makan Makan In Qatar - Eh Dehleez
Anyway, so far I think I had the best chicken mendi at this place as not only the chicken is juicy and tender but the rice is so fragrant. Second or taking the same spot as the best food here is their lamb chop which is delicious. The meat are so tender and herbs added to the meat are nice.
Not too long ago I try their lamb mendi, well it is not as good as I was hoping as the meat from the lamb is kinda tough to chew on but it still not too bad. So if you happen to be there do pick up their lamb chop and chicken mendi and also grill chicken.

Makan Makan in Qatar - Yee Hwa Restaurant
And so they still do and the price has remain the same but I not sure what they serve on the buffet as I didn't like the Korean BBQ as it is mostly meat which I want to reduce from eating it.
On Sunday night they have Korean and Sushi Buffet
Monday and Wednesday night is the usual Korean BBQ Buffet
Friday noon is the family buffet
All of them are priced at QR123 for adults which is a very good deal. Although Doha Downtown Hotel location is not at the prime area such as West Bay or The Pearl but the hotel is pretty much comparable to those 5 start hotel for example Wyndham Grand Regency.
I am planning to try out their Sushi buffet sometime soon so stay tune for the feedback.
Bon Appetite!
Makan Makan In Qatar - Kafe Ole, Holiday Villa
I have stopped going to TOA for almost 2 years reason is the place is dirty and cramp and hot and parking is also an issue. Do give Kafe Ole a try, the chef are Malaysian so the taste is very close to home.
The Malaysia breakfast is only available on the weekend which is Friday and Saturday morning from 730 to 1130.
Some of the menu I do remember are
- Teh Tarik
- Nescafe Tarik
- Nasi Lemak
- Mee Goreng
- Curry fish
- Fried chicken
- Rendang chicken
- Sambal sotong
- Sambal udang
- Beef rending
- Roti canai
- Lontong
- Malay dessert / kuih
- Chinese big pau
I also notice they do sell can 100Plus.. :D
Makan Makan In Qatar - Nandos Qatar
There is a new Nandos opened at Bin Omran just opposite Al Ahli Hospital / Nissan service center. It is pretty good spot as traffic to that area is OK and ample of parking. The plus point going there is their staff are very friendly. We were greeted by the Ukrainian hostess Maria and Alla. Both of them are friendly and quite a chatterbox.
For this Ramadhan, Nandos Qatar have Ramadhan set dinner which are pretty good deal. So head out and grab the offer before it ends.
For QP staff you can enjoy 15% discount when you present your staff ID card.
Sorry I don't have a picture of Nandos food but you guys know how it look like anyway.
Tag Heuer Sunglasses Rubber
Well this post is about what will happen to it after such a long infrequent use. I like it because it is very comfortable and the design looks good. Reason is comfort because the frame is made of rubber but problem is the material doesn't last. I was told that the rubber is the same material used in the F1 race tire and that is why it is so costly.
I think sometime last year the rubber start to "melt" and become sticky and if you put your nose close enough you actually smell the rubber burned smell.. Although it doesn't melt completely, the frame start to be very soft and getting out of shape but still wearable just not so nice. Anyway me and my itchy hand tend to squeeze the melted frame as I am pretty fed up how it looks and already in plan to buy a new sunglasses but definitely not this model anymore.
I did ask around shops to replace the rubber frame and it is freaking as expensive. It cost almost the same as getting a new pair... so far I was quoted for RM900 just for that rubber where a new pair will cost about RM1150.. so you decide.... I am still looking if any shop can replace it around RM500 or should I get a new pair from Ray Ban or Porsche.
I did a search on Google, it seems many others have the same issue.. Well I am not really complaining after all it has been 6 years but I thought it would have last a bit longer.. as far I as I know the rubber compound on tire doesn't melt.
some said is due to sweat? maybe |
how the world connected
Positive thinking / words + frequency = good stuff (law of attraction)
The Secret simply is asking one to have positive thinking and not only to him or herself but to all living things around him. This was backup with a study by ancient Hawaiian practice Ho'oponopono (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho%CA%BBoponopono) which can be summarize by repeat these 4 sentences daily and what it signify
- I am sorry - repentance
- Please forgive me - forgiveness
- Thank you - gratitude
- I love you - compassion

Makan Makan In Qatar - Sweet World
The shop have a lot of variety of dessert from such as typical Arabic dessert, baklava, Kunafah and to chocolate, cakes and ice cream. The person in charge or manager is very well manner and friendly in such he offered me 2 free sample of Kunafah. I didn't try their baklava which I wanted to buy but from the taste of Kunafah I had, I am betting their baklava will be good as well. Overall I do recommend people to try Sweet World at Al Sadd Doha. It is located just next to Al Sadd Mall.
