Souq Waqif is like a fleet market, literally translated to 'the standing market'. Came with my colleague to have lunch and walking through the area I find it a very nice place to hang out but not in summer of course. This place is a good place to buy souvenir as it is cheap and you can find certain raw food or spices that you can't find in Carrefour.
It is a nice place to hang out at night, drinking coffee with your friends have a long chat. It also have several nice restaurant. The one we had was at Sri Kebaya, a Malaysian restaurant. Food was quite good although is expensive compare back to Malaysia itself but is pretty much OK for Qatar. So I was there in the afternoon and is now summer so didn't get to hang out. I will post more on my next trip... Recently keep thinking I should have bought SLR back in Malaysia before I came. Well....
